Lyngdorf Audio launches a new speaker to be placed inside sideboards and other furniture, the CS-2. With a front-ported bass reflex enclosure, an angled and elevated tweeter, and no front cover, the CS-2 has been specifically designed to perform best when placed inside sideboards and audio furniture, for example below a TV.
The new CS-2 adds to the CS-1 introduced earlier and is specifically designed to fit furniture which is less deep.
Best sound performance, made for sideboards
For best sound performance the Lyngdorf CS-2 is based on the same midrange/bass driver and tweeter as the successful CS-1, with the overall construction and sound tuning specifically designed for placement inside furniture. Due to the front-ported bass reflex and a frequency range linear down to 42 Hz the CS-2 does not need the support of a subwoofer. The powerful 6.5” midrange/bass driver is designed with a very strong magnet and together with the bass reflex tuning the low-frequency performance is surprisingly powerful for such a small speaker.
Elevated and angled tweeter for stereo toe-in
The soft dome tweeter is mounted both elevated and angled. This special tweeter placement reduces sound diffractions from furniture edges inside a cabinet and also improves sound radiation toward the listening area, with a degree of toe-in common with conventional, free-standing stereo speakers.
Shallow enclosure for easier placement inside furniture
The Lyngdorf CS-2 is based on CS-1 but with different enclosure dimensions to fit more shallow furniture designs. While both speakers provide the same sound performance, the new CS-2 has a less deep enclosure, measuring only 20cm / 7.9 inches, compared to the CS-1’s 30cm / 11.6 inches. The enclosure is a solid MDF construction with a durable and easy to clean matte-black lacquer. Self-adhesive rubber pads are supplied to prevent any scratches on the furniture surface and to absorb resonance between furniture and speaker. The CS-2 comes without any front cover to allow for the clearest sound performance when placed behind the fabric doors of TV sideboards and other audio furniture.
The CS-2 is available from April 2023.
