SCARES MULTIPLY ON THE WAH TOP 20 AS HALLOWEEN APPROACHES
A frightful theme continues on the Watched at Home list in the run up to Halloween, with scary titles dominating the chart. Both Halloween films are represented, with the original 1978 scarefest joining the chart at No. 17, while the 2018 version made a 10-rung jump to No. 5, powered by excitement over new franchise entry Halloween Kills showing in theaters and on Peacock. The only other new title, The Green Knight, a fantasy retelling of the medieval story of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight starring Dev Patel, joins the chart at No. 8. The top three titles remained unchanged, but Free Guy jumped over F9, flipping last week’s No. 1 and No. 2 titles.
DEG compiles the ‘Watched at Home Top 20’ list with the most widely consumed titles on disc and digital during the previous week (except for outside subscription-based streaming platforms). Assembled with the newest studio and retailer data every seven days, it showcases current consumer enthusiasm for home viewing of the newest film and television releases.
