Alta Audio will soon deliver Alyssa, a new loudspeaker that combines compact dimensions with intimate detail and deep, natural bass response. Standing 14.5 inches H x 9.6 inches W x 14.25 inches, and weighing 28 lbs., the new Alyssa (SRP: $50000/pair) was developed out of a company mission to design a compact speaker with the sonic attributes of a full-size, high fidelity floorstanding speaker. To meet this goal, Alta Audio’s founder, president, and CEO Mike Levy integrated a proprietary ribbon tweeter with Alta Audio’s proprietary midrange/woofer featuring a titanium former.
Alta Audio’s fourth-generation pure aluminum high-resolution neodymium motor tweeter is responsible for clarity and precise dynamics with a flat high-end response that extends over an octave above the scope of human hearing. The 6-inch woofer includes a 3.1-inch diameter long-throw voice coil that employs a neodymium hybrid high-powered motor and a titanium former for smoother airflow that blends with the ribbon tweeter.
Alta’s proprietary XTL (Extended Transmission Line) bass tuning system relies on specialized sonic geometry to tune Alyssa’s cabinets like fine musical instruments, for bass response that is clear, fast, deep, and powerful, according to the company.
To ensure the cabinet is free of resonances that cloud and distort music, Alta Audio’s exclusive DampHard multi-layered, multi-density material extends the clarity of the bass while maintaining the overall dimensionality of the music.
The rounded top and curved sides combine to create an attractive appearance. Customers have the option of customizing the exterior with a choice of veneers, including Rosewood and Beech, that run across the top and down the side to create the appearance of a single piece of wood, in addition to the standard high-gloss piano black.
Alta Audio’s Alyssa will be available through authorized dealers and the company’s web store beginning September.
