Monitor Audio Launches New Bronze Range

Comprehensively re-tuned and upgraded, the new Bronze range builds on the strengths of the much-loved Bronze Series.

In designing the new Bronze range, Monitor Audio re-tuned the hugely successful, award-winning Bronze Series optimising every detail to re-define our meaning of entry-level performance. Utilising a beautiful pearlescent vinyl finish and vastly improved terminal panels, the seven slender Bronze models are gorgeous to look at and are easy to use and to integrate with home décor. New C-CAM® tweeter With higher sensitivity and wider bandwidth, the new Bronze BR tweeter will reveal the finest high frequency detail all the way up to 30kHz. New MMP®II bass drivers Using a combination of detailed FEA analysis and improved material specification, we’ve developed a new driver chassis with improved rigidity together with a more precise motor system for greater accuracy and deeper, faster bass. New MMP®II mid-range drivers The new mid-range driver incorporates the pointed metal phase dome utilised by our award-winning Silver speakers. Lending greater concentric rigidity to the voice-coil, this innovation greatly improves on and off-axis response in the critical mid-range region for life-like timbre and voices. New crossovers Crossover design has been refined for each system using high quality components, skilfully arranged to reduce distortion for clean signal transfer. Improved cabinet and terminal panel design The floor-standing BR5 and BR6 models have discrete internal chambers providing an optimised air-load for their bass and bass/mid-range drivers, giving improved efficiency and mid-range clarity. A new ‘out-rigger’ design for the footings of the BR5 and BR6 offers greater stability and aesthetic effect, while a new high-quality terminal panel, applied to all Bronze models, blends easy access with high-end functionality and appearance. New finishes A rich Black Oak together with lustrous pearlescent vinyl finishes in a choice of Walnut and Cherry (used for the first time at this price level), lift the quality and look of the Bronze range above traditional entry-level offerings. So exceptional are the new UK produced finishes that it is difficult to tell them apart from real wood veneers. The New Bronze models BR1 While retaining the compact dimensions of its B1 predecessor, the new BR1 delivers superior bandwidth and better linearity. The two-way BR1 utilises a single 5.5” MMP® II bass driver and 1” C-CAM® tweeter. Improved motor system linearity has resulted in lower distortion and better low frequency damping. The balance is typically flat with improved focus and high frequency extension. Bass has been tightened up to provide improved grip, but we’ve found that the BR1 still manages to produce impressive low frequencies without them ever becoming over-blown. We believe the result is a proper monitor type sound with crisp clear highs, great bass definition and neutral mid-band. BR2 An evolution of the award winning B2, the BR2’s improved crossover and driver designs combine to re-calibrate the capabilities of an acknowledged class champion, bringing greater dynamic expression, mid-range clarity and lower distortion. Loaded with a 6.5” MMP® II bass driver and 1” C-CAM® tweeter, the BR2’s high quality cabinet mirrors the unobtrusive dimensions of the celebrated B2, and is easy to position, even in smaller rooms. Overall bandwidth has been increased with a usable frequency response right out to 30kHz. Improved motor system linearity has resulted in lower distortion and better damping in the bass region. Frequency response is now a characteristic ‘flat response’, helping to render a faithful reproduction of the source. Additional bracing and cabinet rigidity have reduced colouration, resulting in a clean crisp lower mid-band. We’ve found this to be particularly obvious on single instrument performances such as piano. BR5 The BR5’s slim cabinet profile is unique for a floorstanding speaker at this price level. The BR5 features potent 5.5” bass and bass/mid-range drivers, which provide a blend of punch, deep bass extension and control. The BR5’s 2 1/2-way system is optimised by an integral structure of dedicated driver chambers-a design previously employed on our more expensive loudspeakers. Internal cabinet bracing and very rigid wall construction results in a clean, ‘un boxy’ sound. Overall frequency response is typically flat with extended, well-defined bass response. The floor-level mounted terminal panel allows for easy access and avoids unnecessary trailing cable lengths. BR6 Embraced by a beautifully slim floor standing cabinet, the BR6’s 2 1/2-way system comprises a 1” C-CAM® tweeter, supported by two 6.5” MMP® II bass drivers and a single 6.5” MMP® II bass/mid-range driver mounted within dedicated chambers. The twin chamber acoustic system provides increased bass extension while maintaining high overall sensitivity. The new, dedicated bass drivers designed specifically for the BR6 and have four layer coils to provide improved power handling and dynamics. The 6.5” dedicated mid-range driver provides a neutral, clear mid-range character. The BR6 is a powerful speaker with wide-bandwidth and dynamic punchy bass, but it is still able to resolve delicate compositions and remain controlled at all times. BR-LCR The BR-LCR will perform brilliantly as a centre speaker between the BR1, BR2, BR5, or BR6, or as a left-centre-right speaker as its model name suggests. The BR-LCR features twin 5.5” MMP® II drivers, a 1” C-CAM® tweeter and a custom crossover providing great off-axis response, and high output. Overall response is typically flat with particular attention paid to mid-band clarity and intelligibility to enhance speech projection. Low frequencies are well damped to avoid any potential of vibration or low frequency ‘drone’ caused by close microphone placements in recorded material. We believe the results are clear, crisp voice reproduction from a wide-band LCR/centre speaker. BR-FX The BR-FX surround speaker utilises a single 5.5” MMP® II bass/mid-range driver flanked either side by two 1” C-CAM® tweeters on angled baffles. The new rear mounted terminal panel has a toggle switch to allow easy selection of di-pole or bi-pole operation. The BR-FX is handed as indicated on each speaker and available in the full range of BR colours to complement the range. Off-axis performance has been improved to provide a consistent frequency response over a dispersion of 120 degrees for better imaging over a wider range. The BR-FX can be used on rear or side walls in any multi-channel system and will blend easily with home décor. Wall-mounting hardware is included. BRW-10 The BRW-10 subwoofer features a new 10” MMP® II driver and 150 Watt power amplifier to provide superior standards of control, speed, and punch.
