Story Synopsis:
"Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past" is a tale about celebrity photographer Connor Mead (McConaughey), a committed bachelor who loves freedom, fun, and women...in that order. His brother Paul (Meyer), however, is more the romantic type and is about to be married. Unfortunately, on the eve of the big wedding, Connor's mockery of romance proves a real buzz-kill for everyone, including his childhood friend Jenny (Garner), the one woman in his life who has always seemed immune to his considerable charm. Just when it looks like Connor may single-handedly ruin the wedding, he gets a visit from legendary ladies man, his late Uncle Wayne (Douglas), who has a urgent message, which he delivers through the ghosts of Connor's jilted girlfriends—past, present, and future. Together, they will discover what turned Connor into such a shameless player and whether he has a second chance to find—and this time, keep—the love of his life. (Gary Reber)
Picture:
The 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 picture has a sepia tone and is slightly dark throughout, though, the scenes depict wedding surroundings. Fleshtones are a bit brownish and unnatural. The picture is a bit rough in appearance overall. Blacks are deep but often crushed, with poor shadow delineation. Colors are warmly hued, but the balance is skewed to the darker side of hues. Overall, this is a mediocre picture experience. (Gary Reber)
Sound:
The Dolby® TrueHD 5.1-channel soundtrack is "factory" produced and conventional throughout, with poor dialogue spatial integration, resulting from ADR and production sound. The music score masks the otherwise monaural production. Still, the music is nicely recorded, with a deep and natural bass foundation. Surround envelopment is sparse. This is an all-too-familiar soundtrack production, with surround limited to the music, frontal sound effects, and Foley, with an emphasis on the center channel throughout. (Gary Reber)
