The new HALO 10 Pro Active EXT Cardioid from Ascendo Immersive Audio is a three-way active speaker with a peculiar circular configuration. As Ascendo explains, unlike conventional speakers that radiate sound omnidirectionally, often causing unwanted reflections and bass buildup, the HALO 10 directs low-frequency energy forward, minimizing rear-wall interactions. In the middle, there’s a 10” midrange driver (operating from 200Hz up) paired coaxially with a 3” compression driver, surrounded by six 8” woofers in a cardioid array.

Never a company to fear unusual designs and always searching for the ultimate innovations in high-end cinema sound, Ascendo Immersive Audio will unveil what the German company describes as “its most ambitious loudspeaker yet” at CEDIA Expo 2025. The HALO 10 Pro Active EXT Cardioid will make its world premiere in the $1M home theater in Sound Room 7, where it will serve as the LCR (Left, Center, Right) speakers behind a Seymour-Screen Excellence acoustically transparent screen. To enhance the reveal, the screen will rise to expose the HALO speakers, showcasing their striking circular design and cardioid bass technology.

Surrounding the coaxial midrange and compression driver fitted with a unique, perforated horn baffle, we find the six 8” woofers delivering the lower frequencies from 200Hz down to 55Hz with minimal rear energy due to its cardioid configuration. The HALO 10 Pro Active EXT Cardiod generates >136dB SPL at 1 m with comfortable dynamic range and headroom, in a cabinet with just 10” depth, ideal for spaces where traditional high-performance speakers won’t fit. The HALO 10 Pro is designed for DSP-driven amplification, with a recommended power ranging from 600 W–1200 W (HF), 2000 W–2500 W (midrange), and 2000 W–5000 W total for the woofers.

"With HALO, we set out to create a speaker that embodies the magic of our flagship Black Swan speaker — but in a form that disappears both visually and sonically," says Geoffrey Heinzel, Co-Managing Partner of Ascendo. "The result is a speaker that doesn’t just play music or movies — it vanishes, leaving only emotion, scale, and pure immersion."

“The HALO 10 Pro Active EXT Cardiod generates tighter, more controlled bass, reduced room resonance, and a cleaner, more precise soundstage — perfect for critical listening environments where every detail matters. Attendees at CEDIA Expo 2025 will experience firsthand how the HALO delivers pure, room-filling sound with pinpoint accuracy, disappearing to leave only cinematic immersion,” Heinzel adds.

For those who prefer a closer look, the HALO 10 speakers will also be on static display at the Ascendo booth (4312), where experts from the company will be available to discuss its engineering efforts. Customizable in matte, high-gloss, or carbon finishes, it is a design and performance statement, purpose-built for home cinema but with a commitment to precision and musicality.
