Panel discussion and multifaceted demonstrations will focus on scanning, archiving and production workflow.

March 26, 2025

The 8K Association (8KA), a not-for-profit trade organization
composed of key technology companies in the consumer and professional 8K ecosystem, today
unveiled its plan for a panel discussion and multifaceted demonstration area at the upcoming
2025 NAB Show. It’s just another example of the 8KA’s ongoing efforts to promote the entire 8K
content ecosystem, including recent developments in image capturing, processing, editing,
encoding, decoding, distribution and both consumer and commercial displays.
According to 8K Association president Bill Mandel, “Over the past year, the 8K Association has
continued to work tirelessly to promote all of the key aspects of the 8K content ecosystem.
During this year’s NAB Show, we’re pleased to share the latest news about this with everyone
across the industry”.

8K’s Emerging Role in the Creative Process.

To help underscore this, the Association has assembled an outstanding panel of Hollywood
experts who will engage in a lively discussion on a variety of topics, including some recent
projects involving 8K scanning and mastering and its growing impact on motion picture
restoration and archiving.
The panel session, titled 8K Technology and its Emerging Role in the Creative Process, will be
moderated by Juan Reyes, the Executive Director of the 8K Association and includes Brad
Collar, Senior Vice President, Global Archives & Preservation Services for Warner Bros.
Discovery; Chris Gillaspie, Film Scanning Director at Warner Bros. Discovery; and Greg Ciaccio,
Vice President, Post Production, Original Content & Image Capture at IMAX.

This exclusive panel is scheduled from 10:40am to 11:10am on Monday April 7, as part of
NAB’s Creator Lab presentations in Theater A, South Hall (SL9823).

8K Production Workflow is Expanding

To further illustrate how the 8K production workflow is dramatically expanding across the
industry, the 8KA is also sponsoring a multifaceted exhibit and demonstration area in the LVCC
West Hall (#W3942).

Companies participating in this effort include Samsung (8K televisions), AMD (8K 120Hz gaming
over HDMI), 4BY4 (8K upscaling and video optimization), BZB GEAR (8k splitters, switchers and
extenders) and WyreStorm (8K HDMI certified cables). All of these demonstrations will be
conducted using a variety of compelling content.

Additionally, in cooperation with content creators SAVG Studio and 4BY4, the Association has
developed two new 8K “sizzle reels“ which will be available for industry use.
