Bose Introduces Smart Soundbar 900 With Dolby Atmos

September 9, 2021

Bose launched its new Smart Soundbar 900, an immersive soundbar design with Dolby Atmos and all-in-one wireless system for music and movies. Custom-engineered with upfiring dipole speakers, the new soundbars works with Bose ADAPTiQ and the Bose Music app for room setup, being able to make it feel like the room is filled with sound from every direction. The Smart Soundbar 900 supports Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, and Bose Voice4Video technology adds voice remote control for a connected TV.

The new Bose Smart Soundbar 900 is a mere 2.3" high, just over 4" deep, and 41" long. It features an oval-shaped design, wraparound metal grille, tight seams, clean lines, and a polished, impact-resistant tempered glass top. It fits beautifully under televisions 50" or larger.

The Soundbar 900 combines proprietary Bose spatial technologies to elevate Dolby Atmos content by separating instruments, dialogue, and effects, and then placing those sounds above, and to the far right and left. It also elevates content other than Dolby Atmos by providing a comparable experience. Featuring HDMI eARC, the Soundbar 900 connects to a TV with just one cable, and packs all its technology in a single minimalistic enclosure.

The Smart Soundbar 900 was designed by Bose to enhance music or movies by combining custom arrays, dipole transducers, and low-profile transducers with Bose spatial technologies. Apart from featuring upfiring speakers to generate sound “overhead” as required by conventional Dolby Atmos, the 900 also features Bose PhaseGuide technology to add other dimensions by precisely placing and “pinning” distinct sounds to the right and left where there are no speakers. When there’s no Dolby Atmos content, the horizontal spatial effects are just as effective, and Bose TrueSpace technology takes over to enhance a vertical experience, remixing signals to add “height” without adding a ceiling speaker.

As a fully integrated wireless speaker, the Bose Smart Soundbar 900 features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa for voice control, a simple app for touch control, and is compatible with Spotify Connect, AirPlay 2, and all other Bose smart speakers for a premium audio multi-room system. In that sense, the Soundbar 900 is an all-in-one powerhouse that replaces the existing Bose Smart Soundbar 700.

For voice control, the soundbar is equipped with a microphone array for far-field pick-up. With Bose Voice4Video technology and Alexa voice control, users are able to control the soundbar, the TV, and even the cable or satellite box.

For music content, Bose QuietPort technology delivers exceptional bass performance and virtually no distortion at any volume. And if furnishings or system placement interfere with audio quality, the proprietary ADAPTiQ calibration technology automatically fixes it, optimizing performance for every space.

For flexibility, the Smart Soundbar 900 works seamlessly and wirelessly with Bose bass modules and rear speakers for a more complete home theater experience; Bose offers the latest Bose Surround Speakers 700 ($499) and Bose Bass Module 700 ($699) or Bose Bass Module 500 ($399) to create a full 5.1 configuration. Those speakers all use the same wireless protocols and can be mixed and matched. Users can also connect the Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones for private watching. The Bose Music app helps with pairing, personalization, and updates.

The Bose Smart Soundbar 900 is available from September 23 for $899.
