LED HDR cinemas are certainly one strong possibility for the next generation cinema, but projection solutions will be vying to compete too. At the next Display Summit, Oct. 2-4, many of the aspects of Next Generation cinema will be explored – with a bonus session to showcase the HDR sound and images on the LA area’s first commercial LED cinema screen.
Key questions the event hopes to address for Next Generation Cinema include:
- What is the creative impact of emergence of LED cinema screens?
- How will we specify LED cinema screens?
- Are new cinema mastering, security and distribution standards needed for HDR cinema?
- Can projection offer a compelling HDR solution?
- Can other markets like theme parks, museums, planetariums and performance venues use similar LED cinema technology?
- What audio solutions work with LED cinema solutions?
- Will microLEDs displace convention SMD-LEDs in these venues?
- Will quantum dots or laser projection drive toward adoption of color gamuts in excess of DCI-P3?
- Are light-field-based large venues closer than you think?
- What is the adoption rate for next generation cinema?
- Is new metrology needed?
