Lexicon, Inc., a Harman International company (NYSE: HAR), unveils the new RV-5 Receiver — an eight-channel audio/video control center offering capabilities previously only available in the flagship MC-12 HD. The RV-5 also breaks new ground with several features not currently available in other Lexicon products – all at a very cost effective price point. At its heart, the RV-5 features a multi-faceted audio and video preamplifier with built-in processing. Married to that is a high-current, 7-channel power amplifier capable of driving a wide array of loudspeakers and a built-in FM/AM tuner. In addition, the RV-5 can accommodate a pair of HDMI source devices and can connect directly to a PC via USB, enabling the control and playback of streaming audio files. With the optional dock accessory, iPod® owners can even connect and play their iPod® through the RV-5. The RV-5 Receiver employs the latest version of Lexicon’s critically acclaimed Logic 7® decoding, which has been widely praised for its ability to greatly enhance the listening experience of any type of source material – whether it is music, film, TV, or even video games. The RV-5 features an automated procedure for use in speaker setup, which also performs system equalization. Unlike most equalization systems, which simply knock down the peaks in the response, the RV-5 calibrates the system more intelligently - compensating for frequency response aberrations, varied speaker performance and balancing the entire system for the best overall results. In addition, the RV-5 is capable of storing different calibrations with independent zone monitoring providing control of audio and video source selection in three zones. The RV-5 is the first Lexicon product to feature integrated Faroudja® video processing technology. With this superior video capability, the RV-5 can take any incoming video format and up-convert it to HDMI output, so a single HDMI cable can be utilized between the RV-5 and the video display. The RV-5 can also scale the video to 720p or 1080i output resolution for improved video performance from standard definition sources. In addition, the RV-5 has two menu pages, per input, devoted solely to advanced user-adjustable video processing features such as Faroudja’s DCDi®, designed to smooth out the jagged edges caused when video is de-interlaced; film mode detection, which automatically identifies film sources and restores the proper frame sequence; and noise reduction to minimize the noise often contained within analog video signals; as well as basics such as brightness, sharpness, and contrast. The intuitive remote control, included with the RV-5, is a full-featured universal controller, designed to run an entire home theater system. The remote control contains an extensive library of pre-programmed infrared codes so it can replace virtually any remote control. This powerful remote also has the ability to learn commands from other remote controls, as well as a suite of built-in customizable features. Coupled with the RF receiver option, the user has the power to control the entire home theater system – from virtually anywhere in the home. This is particularly useful in installations where the RV-5 is hidden out of sight or for users who already have a control system for the home theater and want to use the RV-5 remote control from another room. The RV-5 provides several other useful features including an RS-232 port for use with bi-directional control systems as well as an IR input jack for IR based control systems. The RV-5 has two new features never-before offered in a Lexicon product — the ability to listen to music on a PC with all of the power and performance of the RV-5, using a USB connection, and with the optional Dock accessory, the user can enter a new world of listening enjoyment through the combination of the storage capacity and playback flexibility of an iPod® with the sonic power of the RV-5. The connected iPod® can even be controlled seamlessly from the front panel, remote control or RS-232 port. Built to the highest standards, the Lexicon RV-5 Receiver has a lengthy feature set that includes: • 12 configurable inputs, 8 channels, 2 audio zones • Logic 7 audio processing • Automatic EQ and speaker calibration (microphone included) • HDMI inputs and output • Faroudja® video processing • RS-232 control, rear panel IR input, 2 trigger outputs • Assignable power amplifier (Rear channels or Zone 2 in 5.1-channel systems) • 7.1-channel analog input array • Universal pre-programmed and learning remote control • PC-compatible media player support via USB connector • iPod® support (with optional accessory • RF remote control (with optional accessory) The Lexicon RV-5 Receiver comes with a 3-year warranty and joins Lexicon’s renowned line of home theater products.
