WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Jeff Fahey and Pierce Brosnan star in The Lawnmower Man, the original heart-pounding cyber-techno thriller, based on a short story by Stephen King. When Dr. Lawrence Angelo’s (Brosnan) virtual reality experiment goes haywire on simple-minded town gardener Jobe Smith (Fahey), the stage is set for the ultimate battle between good and evil in cyberspace.

LaserDisc Picture:
The THX® quality assured matted 1.85:1 picture exhibits excellent color fidelity, brilliant colors and deep blacks. Contrast and shadow detail is excellent, although sharpness and detail is inconsistent. Sometime distracting noise and minor artifacts are apparent. The vibrant colors are the best aspect of the picture’s quality.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has an aggressive surround presence that complements the film. The soundstage is open, but occasionally sounds veiled in fidelity. Ambiant sound effects are presented in stereo with deep bass response. Dialogue sounds generally natural but often is muffled and veiled, wanting in intelligibility.
