WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
This is a disturbing drama filmed documentary-style about 24-hours in the lives of a group of New York City teens. These kids live in a world of sex, drugs, AIDS and street violence. The film imparts a disturbing realism as debut film director Larry Clark, a renowned photographer of urban youth, explores the raw adventures of street behavior and language. The story centers on Telly (Fitzpatrick), a skinny, sex-driven kid whose main interest is instant sexual gratification from young, naive girls looking for affection. One of his one-time victims, Jennie (Sevigny) visits a clinic with a friend, only to find she tests HIV positive.

LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.88:1 picture exhibits varying quality. While sharp, color fidelity is inconsistent with oversaturated colors and scenes that are poorly lit.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is badly executed stereo with muffled on location dialog.
