WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Smith and Lawrence team up as fast-talking, wisecracking buddy cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett. They have just four days to catch a thief (Karyo), who stole $120 million in heroin from a government compound, before the FBI shuts them down. Their only lead is a hooker (Leoni) who witnessed the heist and her friend’s murder. To complicate matters, married man Burnett has to pretend to be his bachelor partner in order to win her confidence and protect her, while Lowrey goes home to Burnett’s wife and kids, maintaining the charade until the case is solved.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is a Sony High Definition transfer of good quality. Some inconsistencies in color fidelity are apparent in the picture, but otherwise fleshtones are balanced and blacks are deep and solid. The picture is always sharp and detailed with virtually no noise or artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound has been dubbed at below reference level and is essentially mono in character except for the music score which provides subtle surround envelopment.
