Story Synopsis

Based on the book by Ted Hughes, The Iron Giant is an exciting yet gentle tale for young children about a boy who discovers a 50-foot-tall steel-eating giant from outer space. Hogarth Hughes (voiced by Eli Marienthal) tries to keep his new friend a secret from the government agents who have arrived in town to investigate some mysterious events. The Warner Bros. animation effort was nominated for 15 ‘Annie’ awards and received nine statues: Best Picture, Director, Writing, Voice Acting (Marienthal), Music, Character Animation, Effects Animation, Production Design and Storyboarding. Annie awards are sponsored by the Hollywood branch of the International Animated Film Society and were started 27 years ago by June Foray - most noted as the voice of Rocky The Flying Squirrel in the classic Jay Ward television show.
