WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Academy Award®-winners Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt star in As Good As It Gets, a sharp-witted comedy about Melvin Udall (Nicholson), an obsessive-compulsive romance novelist and Carol Connelly (Hunt) the motherly waitress at the cafe he regularly patronizes. Melvin finds a rare ally in Carol, who takes his tirades in stride, but is quick to reprimand him when she feels he has gone too far. But Melvin’s carefully ordered life is disrupted when he is asked to care for the dog of his soft-spoken homosexual neighbor (Greg Kinnear), and when Carol begins missing work due to her son’s serious illness. Melvin must take matters into his own hands to help his neighbor and get his waitress back—so his life may finally be as good as it gets.
