WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based upon the book “Animals Are My Hobby” by Gertrude Davies Lintz, Buddy tells the true story of ”Trudy” Lintz (Rene Russo), an eccentric 1920s socialite who is known as the most generous keeper of animals since Noah. On her New York estate, she cares for a diverse collection of animals—including Buddy, a gorilla she nurtured from a sickly baby. But as Buddy grows, so do the problems he encounters in the civilized society, creating a dilemma for his adoptive parents and the community.

LaserDisc Picture:
The Sony High Definition picture, framed at 2.38:1, exhibits exemplary quality with rich, vivid colors, natural fleshtones and deep, solid blacks. Images are consistently sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail and contrast. There is no noise or artifacts for a wonderful visual experience.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is nicely produced with superb, naturally spatial dialogue. The music score is terrific with a presence that images wide and deep across the soundstage. Deep bass is both subtle and aggressive for an engaging surround envelopment experience.
