WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Walt Disney’s The Jungle Book is a live-action film based on one of Rudyard Kipling’s most beloved short stories. Mowgli (Jason Scott Lee) lives happily in the jungle with the animals who have raised him since childhood, until he meets Kitty (Lena Headey), the daughter of Major Brydon (Sam Neill), who draws him into contact with people—some good, some bad. Mowgli soon faces a corrupt Captain Boone (Gary Elwes) who wants the mythical treasures of Monkey City—a place only Mowgli can find. His loyal animal friends help him meet the challenges of survival in this rousing family adventure.

LaserDisc Picture:
The perfectly framed 2.35:1 Panavision® scope picture exhibits stunning cinematography shot on locations in India, and colors that are vivid and rich in their hues. Images are sharp and detailed with excellent contrast and shadow detail, without distracting noise, grain and artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has subtle surround envelopment in some scenes provided by the music score and the occasional sound effect. Dialogue is excessively bright and forward.
