WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
Double Dragon, based on the video game created by Technos Japan, has the action taking place in what is left of Los Angeles in the year 2007. Now known as New Angeles, the place is an island ravaged by earthquakes and tidal waves with the population in constant danger from vicious gangs and the evil tycoon Koga Shuko. Our heroes, Jimmy and Billy Lee (Mark Dacascos and Scott Wolf) who are teenage brothers, have possession of one half of a mystical amulet which they must protect from the evil Shuko. With the help of a vigilante group they are thrust into the most dangerous adventure of their lives as they use all their courage and martial-arts skills to stop the villian’s evil plan.
LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is matted at 1.85:1 Colors are vivid and the picture is sharp and detailed. However, inconsistent quality from scene to scene, inaccurate fleshtones and slight apparent noise and grain detract from this otherwise visually exciting presentation.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is aggressively enveloping with varied stereo sound effects and deep bass.
