Paulina Escobar (Sigourney Weaver) is disturbed when her husband Gerardo accepts the position heading an investigation into the crimes of an overthrown fascist regime, of which she herself was once a victim. When they receive a visitor, Dr. Roberto Miranda (Ben Kingsley) she recognizes his voice as the Doctor who raped and tortured her, and immediately takes matters in her own hands by putting him on trial at gunpoint. Swearing innocence, Dr. Miranda convinces Gerardo but Paulina is determined she has found the right man and is intent on revenge.
