WSR Narrative Review |
| |
Story Synopsis:
A marvelous imaginative fantasy adventure about the travels and exploits of a legendary 18th century German storyteller. A maddening compilation of inventive special effets and eccentric characters take the viewer on a ride to the moon, the bowels of the earth and the belly of a whale, all the while ensuring fun family entertainment.
LaserDisc Picture:
This Baron features at the opening a segment entitled: “A Moment With The Stars” featuring Gilliam, Eric Idle and John Neville. The picture has been matted at 1.85:1, not 1.75:1 as composed, cutting top and bottom image area that was integral to the composition. But some may prefer this version’s color rendering which is slightly purer and deeper hued.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
As with the previous release the soundtrack is the same and presents a very aggressive Dolby Surround® soundfield with a masterful music score by Michael Kamen that is beautifully recorded.
