WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Andre is a family film based on the true story of the seal who swam hundreds of miles each summer to visit the family who rescued him when he was an orphaned pup. Keith Carradine stars as a Maine harbor master, who finds the baby seal and takes care of him with the help of his nine-year-old daughter Toni, played charmingly by Tina Majorino. She names the seal Andre. Soon Toni and Andre are inseparable and overcoming objections from the local fishermen he even becomes a celebrity in the local harbor. With the onset of winter however, he can no longer stay in the harbor, and so the family decides to place Andre in a Boston aquarium to be set free to live his life in the wild in the spring. But incredibly, each spring Andre swims home.
