Story Synopsis

Director Carroll Ballard’s The Black Stallion, based on the novel by Walter Farley, is a brilliant production. It is the heroic and charming tale of a young boy’s courage and love that develops in the face of a frightening adventure of survival. A vicious shipwreck leaves survivors Alec (Kelly Reno) and “The Black,” a wild Arabian stallion, stranded on a desolate island where the two bond in an amazing friendship. When finally rescued, Alec and the magnificent horse continue their adventures when they join forces with an ex-jockey, Henry Dailey (Mickey Rooney), and go forth in the world of horse racing. This is a wonderful family adventure of visual splendor, action and suspense.
