Special Features

This special Panavision® widescreen presentation expands the film’s scope and adds new insight into the lives of its characters. An hour of additional footage not seen theatrically fulfills the original vision of the director. The never-before-released companion The Making Of featurette exposes the interworkings of the production while the accompanying deluxe book, Dances With Wolves: The Illustrated Story Of The Epic Film, contains exclusive location photos and commentaries by director/star and co-producer Kevin Costner, co-producer Jim Wilson and screenwriter Michael Blake. Additionally there are six full-color lobby cards originally sent to exhibitors for the theatrical release, plus the original motion picture soundtrack CD featuring John Barry’s epic score.

Story Synopsis

Winner of seven Academy Awards®, Dances With Wolves is an extraordinary tribute to the great Sioux Indians and the passing of the American frontier into history. Filled with a rare compassion and authenticity regarding the Native American way of life, the film is both epic in scope and intimate in its portrayal of one man’s search for his own humanity. Kevin Costner’s performance as that man, and his directorial debut, is awesome.
