WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Suggested by the character Rooster Cogburn from the novel “True Grit” by Charles Portis, Rooster Cogburn (...And The Lady) stars John Wayne in the role of an old and tough, gunfighting, whiskey-guzzling deputy marshal who meets the prim and proper Reverend’s daughter Eula Goodnight (Katharine Hepburn). Together, they uncompromisingly team up to avenge the death of Eula’s father and, along the way, develop a surprisingly warm love for each other.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is framed at 2.35:1. Images and fleshtones are overall natural looking with good detail, even though the transfer element appears to be a release print. The picture is slightly grainy and there are some minor artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
Unfortunately the movie was released in mono.
