WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
A cult classic by now, this dark and moody near-futuristic thriller has New York City turned into a maximum security prison with no way in or out. When Air Force One is taken over by terorists and crashes on Manhattan with the president aboard, prisoner Russell is offered his freedom to rescue the chief. Features an inteeview with Carpenter and commnetary on the analog track.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is darkly rendered to set the foreboding mood but the cinematic quality is not optimized due to noticeable grain, poor shadow detail and deficient contrast. The picture is properly framed at the theatrical 2.35:1 aspect ratio.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack delivers a dynamic punch with solid bass extension to 25Hz, aggressive surround envelopment, directional effects, natural dialogue, and a great music score.
