WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
This is the second movie edition of the Tom Clancy-action series (the first, “The Hunt for Red October,” starred Alec Baldwin) featuring ex-CIA analyst Jack Ryan (Ford). Here Ryan foils an IRA terrorist attack on the Royal family, killing a terrorist and incurring the wrath of the man’s brother, who follows Ryan and family back to the States for revenge.

LaserDisc Picture:
Picture quality is equally superb with an aspect ratio of 2.35:1 that is sure to please the widescreen LaserDisc enthusiast.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound design with its excellent use of panning and extended, deep bass response perfectly enhances the plot devices and action set pieces to create enough anxiety to keep any viewer on the edge of his or her seat. The Dolby Surround® presentation is effectively aggressive with powerful rain storms and helicopter effects, and a well recorded James Horner music score that further stimulates the tension, making for an impressive home theatre demonstration.
