WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Hunt For Red October is based on the novel by Tom Clancy about The Red October, a new technologically-superior Soviet nuclear submarine headed for the U.S. coast with unknown intentions. The American government thinks Captain Ramius (Sean Connery) is planning an attack, but a CIA analyst (Alec Baldwin) believes he is planning to defect. With both the American and the Russian naval and air command on the hunt, the film is filled with high-tech excitement and intrigue.

LaserDisc Picture:
The presentation quality is outstanding. The digital video transfer emulates the darkish reddish look of the theatrical projection. The interior look of both the Russian and the American submarines is stunning with excellent shadow detail and colors that are vibrant and warm. The aspect ratio is about 2.26:1.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby Surround® soundtrack is spectacular with explosions and thrusting deep bass, and a tense, ponderous full orchestra and chorus music score. This is an action adventure that is sure to please.
