In 1193 B.C., the forbidden love between Paris, Prince Of Troy (Bloom) and Helen, Queen Of Sparta (Kruger), dash any dreams for peace between the two countries. When Helen's husband, the King Menelaus (Gleeson) comes after her, an all-out war is in his plans. Can the great warrior Achilles (Pitt), loyal to no country, help Menelaus and his power-hungry brother Agamemnon (Cox) tear down the high walls of Troy? Inspired by Homer's The Iliad and filmed in the obvious tradition of classic epics of the 1950s (and starring two actors from such epics: Julie Christie and Peter O'Toole). (Suzanne Hodges)
