Honored as the funniest movie of all time by the American Film Institute's tribute to comedies, "100 Years...100 Laughs," "Some Like It Hot," suggested by a story by R. Thoeren and M. Logan, tells the story of Joe (Curtis) and Jerry (Lemmon), two prohibition-era musicians on the lam from the mob, particularly underworld kingpin, Spats Columbo (Raft). Their only chance of escape? Dressing up as women and joining Sweet Sue And Her Society Syncopaters, an all-girl orchestra. There they meet Sugar Kane (Monroe), the band's troubled vocalist. Of course "Josephine" and "Daphne" both fall for the gorgeous Sugar, but what can either of the "boys" really do about it? Plenty. And luckily for us, it's all hilarious. Filmed at the legendary Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, California—that hasn't changed much since the filming of this gem in 1959. The film's costume designer, Orry-Kelly, won an Academy Award® for Miss Monroe's delectable gowns. (Laurie Sevano)
