When the happy-go-lucky Larry Crowne (Hanks) finds himself edged out in a company downsizing, he sets out on a heart-warming journey to find himself and soon finds the spark of romance too. Taking the loss of his job in stride, Larry decides to start over by enrolling at a local college. At school, he quickly falls in with a colorful pack of scooter-riding outcasts, but it's in his public-speaking class where Larry develops an unexpected crush on his beautiful but troubled teacher Mercedes Tainot (Roberts). Through his own determination this simple guy soon discovers that life can be better than he ever dreamed. (Gary Reber)

Special features include deleted scenes (HD 08:03), a making-of featurette (HD 11:23), Fun On The Set (HD 10:44), up-front previews, and BD-Live functionality.

The 2.40:1 1080p VC-1 picture is nicely rendered with a bright, cheerful appearance, exhibiting well-balanced contrast and a vivid color palette. Hues are rich and vibrant, with solid blacks and popping primaries. Shadow delineation is revealing. Fleshtones are naturally hued throughout and are healthy looking. Resolution is nicely revealing, to the extent that make-up is often called attention to. This is a light and bright picture experience that is sure to please. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is conventional, with production and ADR dialogue that generally sounds integrated spatially. The music score is lively throughout, with an aggressive surround presence. Deep bass is restrained, with limited .1 LFE response. Atmospherics and sound effects are primarily frontal focused but, at times, are directionalized and panned effectively. While conventionally produced, the sonics effectively complement the storytelling. (Gary Reber)
