In "The Visitor," the soul of a young girl with telekinetic powers and her mother become the prize in a battle between good extra-terricals ETs and evil ETs.

The 1.85:1 HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on 35 mm Kodak Vision2 film using the Arricam LT camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The original 35mm camera negative was scanned in 4K resolution at Silver Salt. The film was restored and graded in SDR, HDR10 and Dolby Vision at Dragon DI. Grain structure is generally smooth and not distracting. The picture exhibits a color palette comprised of strongly saturated hues that are warm. Colors pop with vividness. SDR contrast is good. Black levels appear realistic as well as shadow delineation. White levels often exhibit bright illumination. Resolution is excellent, especially during closeups. Facial features reveal skin pores, lines beard stubble and hair. Flesh tones appear healthy, revealing makeup. Clothing patterns reveal fabric detail, Environmental settings appear realistic and detailed. Objects also are nicely detailed. This is a very filmic picture with a strong color palette that is visually compelling. (Gary Reber)

The LPCM 2.00 monaural is undistinguished and heavily distorted with the exception of dialogue, which sounds produced and wanting in spatial integration. (Gary Reber)
