The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is realistic sounding from the fragile ice breaking up, a vehicle sinking in the icy lake, to a camp fire's crackle. Atmospherics are realistic throughout. Sound effects are realistic as well, such as powerful gunfire and powerful deep bass and .1 LFE attack during violent interactions. Foley sound effects are realistic and enhance the realism. The rhythmic orchestra/synthesizer score is generally a background support element, with occasional forwardness. The music occupies a wide and deep soundstage presence that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Imaging is excellent. Surround energy is virtually constant with intense low-frequency din sonics. Dialogue throughout is intelligible with good ADR production. This is a hauntingly intense holosonic® soundtrack that is extremely well crafted. (Gary Reber)
