Based on an unbelievable true story, "Roofman" follows Jeffrey Manchester (Channing Tatum), a former Army Ranger and struggling father who turns to robbing McDonald's restaurants by cutting holes in their roofs, earning him the nickname Roofman. After escaping prison, he secretly lives outside Toys "R" U for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move. But when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst), a divorced mom drawn to his undeniable charm, his double life begins to unravel , setting off a compelling and suspenseful game of cat and mouse as his past closes in. (Gary Reber)

Special features include four featurettes: 'Chasing The Ghosts; The Director;s Method" (HD 11:36), "A Good Plce To Hide" (HD 09:22), "Driving Lesson: IHD02:59) and "Choir Pratice" (HD 01:20); seven deleted and alternate scenes (HD 08:27) and a digital copy.

The 2.39:1 HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed in vertical anamorphic 2-perf Techniscope on 35mm film using the Arricam LT camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate. Film grain is never objectionable. The setting is a McDonald's and a Toy "R" Us. Despite the toy store setting, the imagery never really leaps off the screen. The picture is nicely colorful with a naturally saturated color palette. Hues often pop with the numerous toys on display. The employee blue T-shirts pops as does the store's facade signage. Flesh tones appear perfectly natural. Overall brightness is realistic. HDR contrast is excellent. Blacks are solid. Shadows reveal nuance shadings. White levels are well illuminated. Resolution is generally good though slightly soft. But closeups reveal fine detail in skin pores, beard stubble, beads and hair. Costumes are colorful and fabrics are generally revealing. Urban environments appear generally soft. Objects reveal texture. Everything appears realistic. This is a good looking colorful picture of real life. (Gary Reber)

Absent a Dolby Atmos treatment, the Dolby TrueHD 5.1-channel soundtrack is highly produced and simplistic with a vey forward sounding dialogue track wanting in spatial integration. The orchestra backgrounds provide good support. The music occupies a wide soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Atmospherics sound realistic. Sound effects are not aggressive though supported with bass transients. Strong surround envelopment is limited. Overall, this is a satisfying holosonic® soundtrack though dialogue, while intelligible, is not optimal. (Gary Reber)
