The 1.78:1 HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed in VistaVision on 35mm Kodak Vision3 film using the Beaumont VistaVision Camera and Panavision Panaflex Millennium XL2 camera systems and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate. Film grain is virtually non-existent. as it is very fine. This is a political thriller that delivers an intense depiction of illegal immigration enforcement and The French 75 resistance movement. Picture quality is superb. The imagery is sharp and clear throughout. Naturalness and realism is exhibited throughout, as well. Michael Bauman's cinematography is wonderfully dramatic. Color fidelity is excellent with niceiy saturated hues throughout. Hues reveal realistic tone shadings. HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels appear natural and realistic. Shadows are deep with excellent shading depth. White levels appear realistically illuminated. Resolution reveals fine detail throughout. Facial features are perfectly realistic with fine detail exhibited in skin pores, lines, beard stubble and hair. Costume fabrics and police uniforms reveal detail. Urban and rural environments are well defined as is structural detail. Objects are well defined. This is an intense cinematic picture that delivers a feel of anxiety throughout. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack delivers a dynamic sounding presence throughout. The sonics are driven by Jonny Greenwood's intense score, often with just piano and drums and aggressive string instrumentation as well as wind and brass orchestration. The virtually constant music aggressively extends to the surrounds for sound field envelopment. Atmospherics sound perfectly realistic. Soundstage imaging is excellent. Sound effects are dynamic and powerful, such as gunfire and explosions, as well as general chaos. Foley sound effects deliver realism throughout. Dialogue is intelligible with generally good spatial delineation.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an extension of the orchestrations to the height layer as well as numerous sound effects such as helicopter blade sounds, flares and bombs and minor subtle atmospherics. While the music delivers an effectively strong treatment, atmospherics and sound effects could have been far more extensive. Still, this is a nice enhancement to the dimensionality of the sound field..

This is a nerve-wracking intense active holosonic® soundtrack that is thrilling. (Gary Reber)
