"Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere" is a powerful and intimate portrait of creativity, ambition, and the cost of chasing a dream. The docudrama chronicles the making of Bruce Springsteen's 1982 "Nebraska" album. The album market a pivotal time in his life and is considered one of his most enduring works –– a raw, haunted acoustic record populated by lost souls searching for a reason to believe. (Gary Reber)

Special features include include a four-act documentary: "The Liner Notes" "Act 1: From Book To Screen" (HD 09:06), "Act 2: Beyond The Music" (HD 06:07), "Act 3: Becoming Bruce Springsteen" (HD 09:37) and "Act 4: Deep Authenticity" (HD 09:38) and a Movies Anywhere digital copy.

The 2.39:1 HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa 35 camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate. Masanobu Takayanagi"s beautiful cinematography captures a very dramatic presentation for a great looking picture. Color fidelity exhibits solid saturated hues that often pop. Naturalness and realism is exhibited throughout. At times, he imagery reverts to flashbacks of Springsteen's childhood, which is presented as vignettes in stylized black and white. Flesh tones appear perfectly natural. HDR contrast is excellent. Blacks are deep and solid. Shadow delineation exhibits dark shadings. White levels are naturally illuminated. Resolution and clarity are excellent in both the black and white and color segments. Facial features reveal skin pores, lines, beard stubble mustache and hair. Clothing reveals fabrics. Settings, sets, recording studios all appear realistic. Objects are nicely resolved. This is a very cinematic picture that is fully captivating. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is grounded in realism. Atmospherics are realistic in every setting. Sound effects are complementary and never exaggerated. The music is the center piece, with Springsteen pushing for a sound for his "Nebraska" album. It captures the distortions of the cassette tape bedroom recordings, the studio recordings, and the rockin' live performances. Surround energy is ever present with effective sound field envelopment. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with good spatial delineation.

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of spurts of audience screams and applause as well as bursts of band singing. There are sporadic and extremely brief atmospherics and sound effects, but for the entirety of the soundtrack there is not much in the way of height layer treatment, though there certainly could have been far more and better treatment.

This is a very well crafted holosonic® soundtrack with excellent fidelity and natural dynamics. Springsteen fans will be thrilled. (Gary Reber)
