The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic and boisterous with excellent presence. The sonic elements are active with an aggressive sound field presence. Atmospherics sound convincing. Sound effects are quite active along with intense mayhem during the violent action actions. Bass support is subdued except for the occasional bolt of .1 LFE energy, The orchestral score delivers seemingly constant presence with a active rhythmic drive. The music occupies a wide and deep soundstage with aggressive extension to the surrounds. Surround energy provides an enveloping sound field. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is limited to an extension of the music to the height layer as well as a very brief screaming audience reaction. Seemingly constant, the music enhances the dimensionality of the sound field, but could have a more aggressive presence. And other sound effects treatments would be desirable.
This is a satisfying holosonic soundtrack with excellent ear-level dimension. (Gary Reber)
