Keanu Reeves stars as an inept angel whose divine intervention backfires in "Good Fortune." Reeves is a well-meaning but rather inept angel named Gabriel , who observes a struggling gig worker, Arj (Aziz Ansari), who is barely making ends meet in Los Angeles, and intervenes to show him that money can't solve all his problems. Gabriel swaps Arj’s life with a wealthy venture capitalist, Jeff (Seth Rogen), but the plan backfires when Arj is convinced his newfound wealth has, in fact, solved all his problems. As Arj refuses to switch back, Jeff is left without his fortune, Gabriel loses his wings, and all three are forced to confront what it truly means to be human. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Writer-Producer-Director Aziz Ansari and Producer Alan Yang, the featurettes: "Life Swap: Making Good Fortune" (HD 14:37), "The Los Angeles Of Good Fortune" (HD 12:24) and "The Clothes Make The Man…And The Angel" (HD 06:15), theatrical trailer and a digital copy.

The 1.85:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa 35 camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The setting shifts from "everyday" poor life to a rich life setting. The imagery is naturally hued. The color palette exhibits realistic hues, perfectly balanced without any exaggeration. Flesh tones are natural. Contrast is good. Black levels are deep. Shadows reveal good depth and delineation. White levels are realistic. Resolution is excellent with detail exhibits in facial features, such as skin pores, lines, beards and hair, structural features and object textures. This is a well-crafted picture with that perfectly supports the storyline about those who struggle and those with wealth. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused and at times sounds dynamic. Atmospherics sound realistic. Sound effects are subdued but effective. Foley sound effects sound realistic. The orchestra score nicely complements the storytelling. The music spans and wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Various ambient environmental effects also provide surround envelopment. Dialogue is intelligible but quite forward sounding and wanting in spatial integration,

The soundtrack registers as Dolby Atmos but there is little in the way of height layer actively. Extremely low level din fill, and an instance or two of a couple of seconds of dialogue, dance club chatter and a few seconds of background music at a party does nothing to enhance dimensionality. This should have been credited as a 7.1 soundtrack. The sound designers would have had to do a lot more work to make this a worthwhile Immersive Sound element.

Nevertheless, this is an effective ear-level holosonic® soundtrack that delivers a strong political message in a cleverly fun manner that is engaging throughout, (Gary Reber)
