The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is comedic dialogue focused with lots of sound effects that deliver a comedic impact. At times, sound effects burst out with intensity, depth and directionality. Atmospherics sound realistic. Deep bass occupies the ear-level channels with the occasional .1 LFE boost. The orchestra and music score is dynamic sounding with a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds for envelopment. Dialogue is unusually ADR produced, especially Liam Neeson's dialogue and narration, and wanting in spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an extension of the orchestra score sans the big band jazz segments, extended nuanced dialogue extension. fight crowd cheering, an occasional atmospheric and various loud sound effects. This is a generally effective height layer treatment with moments of SPL intensity.
This is a holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack with ridiculously funny dialogue and excellent music and sound effects dynamics. (Gary Reber)
