The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on 35 mm film using the Panavision Panaflex Gold II camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format derived from a restoration from the original camera negative by Arrow Films. Picture quality is terrific. Everything appears natural within the stylized production design with visual special effects set within the natural world. The color palette is naturally hued with scenes in which colors are vividly saturated with warm and rich hues, which often pop, especially reds. The countryside exhibits earthy tones of green fields. Interiors in the real world appear realistic. Flesh tones are natural. HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels are deep and solid. Shadows cast deep grays with excellent depth. White levels appear natural and well illuminated. The imagery is sharp and clear throughout. Resolution exhibits fine detail, especially during closeups of facial features exposing skin pores, lines, sweat, beard stubble and hair. Clothing fabrics are detailed. Structural attributes and set designs reveal realistic detail. Object texture is finely detailed. Everything a[ears vivid. This is a good looking picture with excellent visual qualities. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with intense sound effects that excite the sound field. Sound effects are powerful, aided with deep bass extension that extends to sub-25 Hz in the .1 LFE channel, which is nicely active and punchy. Sound effects include powerful thunder, crashes, creepy door slams and vehicle screeches, and more. Other prominent sound effects are monster sounds, screams, breaking glass, creaky sounds and bolting sounds. Foley sound effects enhance the realism. The orchestra score is haunting and dynamic with a powerful presence that extends to the surrounds. The surrounds are very active with direction. Soundstage imaging is precise. Dialogue is intelligible with satisfying integration. This is a scary holosonic® soundtrack that clouds the difference between fantasy and reality. (Gary Reber)
