In "I Know What You Did Last Summer," four young friends are bound by a tragic accident on a winding road, after which they make the fatal mistake of dumping their victim's body into the sea. A year later they are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town. (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on Kodak 35 mm film in anamorphic Panavision® using Panavision cameras and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The setting is a sea coast fishing village. The environmental setting appears perfectly realistic and natural. The color palette exhibit an excellent balance of saturated hues that are warm. Hues are nicely defined with nuanced shadings. Flesh tones are perfectly natural. HDR contrast is excellent. Black levels are natural and shadows are well delineated. White levels are realistically illuminated. The imagery appears generally sharp and clear. Resolution exhibits fine detail in settings, both interiors and exteriors, as well as object and furnishings texture. Facial features are well defined. Makeup, skin features and hair reveal details. This is a very good looking picture with a natural color palette and dynamics. (Gary Reber)

The repurposed Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack sounds dynamic. Atmospherics are spot on and dimensional, Of course, sound effects can be intense with sharp transient attack bolstered with deep bass response that intensifies the impact of the hook killings. At times, bass extends deep to sub-25 Hz bass extension in the .1 LFE channel. Foley sound effects are active and precise throughout. The orchestral score is quite active and intense with clear instrumentation spread wide and deep across the soundstage and extending aggressively to the surrounds to completely envelop the soundstage. Dialogue, a combination of soundstage and ADR when on location, is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration..

The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an aggressive extension of the orchestral score to the height layer, as well as numerous sound effects and atmospherics and some partial dialogue. This is a very effective height layer that intensifies the mayhem and murder sequences and provides directionality.

This is a horrific slasher killer holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack with excellent fidelity and dynamics that will please fans of the horror genre. (Gary Reber)
