The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Atlas Scope using the Arri Alexa 35 camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The sets mostly depict a high-end restaurant called Palate high up in a skyscraper, and the interior of a residence. The imagery is perfectly natural and realistic. The color palette is nicely saturated with strong reds and the normal hues associated with home interiors and an expensive restaurant. Violet's red dress stands out. Henry's English racing greenish shit blends in well with the restaurant settings. Wine glasses sparkle. Flesh tones appear accurate. HDR contrast is excellent with deep blacks and revealing shadows. White levels are brilliant in intensity. Resolution is excellent. Facial features reveal makeup, lines, skin pores, freckles, beards and hair. Costumes reveal fabric textures.. Furnishings and restaurant features and objects are perfectly realistic. This is a beautiful picture that is colorful, sharp and clear for a tense experience filled with suspense. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding, especially in the final scenes. The focus is dialogue, with action that ultimately climaxes in intense violence and dynamics. The orchestral score is powerful and with a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds, Another primary sound element is deep bass that can extend to sub-25 Hz in the .1 LFE channel. Bass is an undercurrent throughout. Foley sound effects are perfectly executed. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with generally good spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an extension of the orchestral score, very nuanced dialogue, low level restaurant atmospherics, muted gunfire and window glass shattering. The music is most effective in terms of height layer dimensionality.
This is a captivating holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that delivers an emotional impact. (Gary Reber)
