The 1.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture exhibits a mostly dull quality with short segments of brighter natural imagery in outdoor night time, hospital, and urban environments, The picture is stylized to impart scary and horrific imagery. The color palette exhibits a combination of natural hues that are saturated and those that are distorted or filtered for effect. Red hues, such as blood, are deep. Grays and blacks appear natural. Flesh tones, for the most part, appear natural. Contrast is damped down as this is generally a dark presentation with elements of bright white level illumination (including the white subtitles). Black levels are deep in contrast and shadow delineation is revealing. Resolution is good. The imagery is clear though at times both a bit soft or sharp within the stylized presentation. This is a satisfying horror picture that delivers suspense and scary imagery. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is presented in Korean with English subtitles. This is a dynamic sounding mix with extremely aggressive surrounds that create excellent dimensionality. Atmospherics are excellent as well as sound effects that are frightening and powerful. The orchestral/choral music occupies a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Foley sound effects are realistic, Deep bass occupies all channels and is particularly strong and powerful in the .1 LFE channel. The soundstage expands and contracts with the sound elements. Dialogue is presented effectively. This is a powerful holosonix® soundtrack whose imaginative sound design delivers the chills. Home theatre enthusiasts are in for a powerful immersive sonic experience. (Gary Reber)
