The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa 35, Arri Alexa LF, Arri Alexa Mini LF and Arriflex 35 IIC camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is fantastico! The production design is creative and the cinematography is superb. Visual effects are soften incredible. The color palette is nicely saturated with naturally warm hues. In terms of color accuracy and density, evrything appears perfectly accurate. Locations, interiors, shopping malls, Santa's North Poll headquarters, beach resort, and all manner of tone hues appear perfectly natural. HDR contrast is excellent with deep blacks levels, revealing shadow delineation and brilliant white levels. Resolution is revealing of fine detail throughout, Facial features reveal skin tones, lines, complexions, makeup, beards and hair. Costume fabrics reveal fine detail. Locations and backdrops are sharp and detailed. Objects are textured. This is an extremely sharp and colorful picture with dynamic imagery and visual effects that delivers incredible action and imagination. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack sounds very dynamic. Atmospherics and sound effect aggressively occupy the four surround channels. Atmospherics sound realistic. Sound effects are prevalent and exciting. Foley sound effects are quite active and realistic. Bass effects provide strong support for the numerous sound effects. Beas extension is deep and powerful to sub-25 Hz frequencies in the .1 LFE channel. Henry Jackman's orchestral/choral score is dynamic sounding and occupies a wide and deep soundstage with aggressive surround envelopment. Fidelity is excellent. Dialogue is prominently ADR produced and forward sounding for the most part.

The Immersive Sound element is disappointing as the extension of the music is not always supportive of music in the ear-level channels. Of the music element one instrument that rises to the occasion is a lone harp, Atmospherics and sound effects are sporadic. There are wide gaps between any music, atmospherics or sound effects. Yet the visuals are there from which to create an aggressive height layer that enhances height layer dimensionality.

This is a spectacular ear-level holosonic® soundtrack that is very dynamic sounding with extremely active action and sound effects that will fully engage a capable home theatre system. (Gary Reber)
