"Piece By Piece" is an experience that invites audiences on a vibrant journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams. Told through the lens of LEGO® animation you can witness the evolution of one of music's most innovative minds. (Gary Reber)

special features include the featurette "Building The Story" (HD 03:13) and a Movies Anywhere digital copy.

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was LEGO-animated digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate. Picture quality is superb with extremely sharp and clear LEGO animation that exhibits a smooth texture to the pieces. The imagery is amazing in the extraordinary production design and animation. Color fidelity is excellent. Hues are nicely saturated with beautifully natural tones that at times pop., such as yellows, blues, and reds whether part of a character's wardrobe or the environment. The color range is impressively wide. The black-and-white snippets exhibit an excellent gray scale. The attention to textural smoothness and shadow sheen of the LEGO characters is impressive. There are scenes where texture is added to walls on building exteriors, clothing, hair, floors and various props, as well as gloss on various surfaces. Contrast is dynamic with deep blacks, defined shadows and natural white levels. Resolution is revealing of fine LEGO constructions with rounded and square figure attributes that are always sharp in focus. The animated lines that denote characters' eyes and mouths as they speak, squint, or blink are sharply delineated. This is an amazing visual experience that exhibits innovative artistic vision. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused as the ADR narrative tells Williams' story and is intertwined with the music of The Neptunes and Williams. The dialogue is articulate and intelligible with balanced forwardness. The music and singing is spread wide across the soundstage. Atmospherics sound realistic. Foley sound effects add a nice touch to proceedings. Sound effects also enhance the proceedings with light touches. The music is presented as a forward, dynamic element and also as background support. Even when the music is the dominant presence, as is predominantly the case, dialogue clarity is maintained. Bass frequencies sound perfectly natural and occasionally there is an effect enhanced with deep .1 LFE bass, such as jet aircraft flights or the crashing down segment, with LEGO movement through the soundfield, or with respect to the music's thumping guitar and kick drum licks. Surround envelopment and imaging is dimensional with the music extended to the surrounds. Fidelity throughout is superb. This is a well-crafted innovative holosonic® soundtrack that is an effective communicator of the development of a music artist. (Gary Reber)
