In "Speak No Evil," James McAvoy stars as the charismatic, alpha-male host whose untrammeled hospitality masks an unspeakable darkness. After befriending a British couple with a mute son, Americans Ben and Louise accept an unusual invitation to bring their daughter for a weekend at an idyllic country estate. Yet when they discover their hosts are hiding sinister motives, Ben and Louise fear their family may be pawns in a disturbing plot. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Writer/Director James Watkins, the featurettes "Nuclear Families" (HD 08:53), "A Horrifying Crescendo" (HD 05:21) and "The Farmhouse Of Horrors" (HD 04:00) and a Movies Anywhere digital copy.

The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® and Atlas Scope using the Arri Alexa 35 camera system and sourced from a 4K Digital Intermediate. The picture exhibits a natural color palette in every setting of the intricate production design, as well as depth. Hues are warm. Flesh tones are perfectly natural. Contrast is well balanced with realistic black levels, revealing shadows, and realistic white levels. Resolution is excellent. The imagery is sharp and clear. Facial features exhibit good detail in complexions and hair. Object detail is excellent such as respect to Paddy and Clara furnishings and items that provide the atmospherics of uneasiness. Clothing fabrics reveal texture. This is a satisfying picture that exhibits naturalness throughout. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtraxk is dialogue focused much of which is well integrated spatially but often ADR produced and forward sounding. Atmospherics sound realistic and fit the production setting. Sound effects are both subtle and strong at times, such as gunshots. Bass enhancement occurs at times in the .1 LFE channel and provides an effective foundation. The music is limited and serves as a background element but effectively sounds mysterious and brooding. Overall, this is decent soundtrack but falls short of exciting. (Gary Reber)
