Hues are expressive in the form of the various color shadings of character skin, uniforms, and weaponry, Resolution is clear and well defined. Detail is impressive as is seen in individual character configurations, the space ship and on planet surfaces. Contrast is excellent with deep, solid black levels such as seen in the composition of outer space. Shadows are revealing and white levels are brightly illuminated. this is a terrific animated Star Trek feature that will thrill fans. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is impressively dynamic sounding throughout and displays excellent fidelity. Sound effects and atmospherics are dimensional. The surrounds are aggressively treated with directionalized sounds such as phaser blasts and ship maneuvers in the cosmos are panned throughout. Bass extension is powerful and deep and a force that establishes a solid sonic foundation. The orchestral score is dynamic and detailed with wide and deep soundstage and strong surround presence. Dialogue is intelligible even with the varied characters at the heart of the presentation. This is a well-crafted holosonic® studio-produced soundtrack that will thrill fans. (Gary Reber)
