"Run Lola Run" is about two star-crossed lovers who have only minutes to change the course of their lives. Time is running out for Lola (Franka Potente). She’s just received a frantic phone call from her boyfriend Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), who’s lost a small fortune belonging to his mobster boss. If Lola doesn’t replace the money in twenty minutes, Manni will surely suffer severe consequences. (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary with Director Tom Tykwer and Actor Franka Potente, commentary with Tykwer and Editor Mathilde Bonnefoy, the featrettes "Making-Of RENNT" (HD 39:30) and "Still Running" (HD 16:58), “Believe” music video (HD 04:01) and the theatrical trailer.

The 1.85:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed on 35mm Eastman film stock using the Arriflex 535 camera system and sourced from a 4K Digital Intermediate. Grain is at times smooth and never distracting and at other times very apparent. There are some artifact distortions and apparent low resolution imagery. The color palette is nicely saturated with vibrant hues that often pop, such as during the animation sequences and during Lola's red phone incidents and her run and encounter with passing red vehicles. Lola's hair is a saturated reddish orange as is her green pants and aqua colored top. There is quite a bit of stylization with filters and black-and-whit sequences. Flesh tones appear natural. HDR contrast is well balanced. Blacks are deep, especially during the animation. Shadows are revealing. White levels appear natural. Resolution is generally good with respect to facial features, clothing, objects and urban environmental settings, but not always. Overall, the picture appears filmic with a slightly rough texture in numerous segments. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is produced both in German and English. The English version dialogue is ADR produced and lacks good spatial integration. Atmospherics are subtle but Foley sound effects are active and realistic. Sound effects are comprised of crashes and squealing vehicle sounds. The techno-pulse music score is virtually constant with an extremely active rhythmic score that fills the soundfield with pounding music cues. Surround energy is aggressive and both enveloping and directionalized with sounds and voices. Deep bass sounds realistic and at times pounding. This is a energized holosonic® soundtrack that is appealing. (Gary Reber)
