In "Sting," after raising an unnervingly talented spider in secret, 12-year-old Charlotte (Alyla Browne) must face the facts about her pe –– and fight for her family's survival –– when the once-charming creature rapidly transforms into a giant, flesh-eating monster. (Gary Reber)

The 1.85:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K Digital Intermediate. The picture looks terrific with a natural appearance throughout. Color fidelity is excellent with natural saturated hues that are realistic. The story takes place is an old apartment building in New York City. The scenes are virtually all interiors of the various units, each filed with the occupants' furnishings, all of which appear perfectly realistic. The production design uses lighting effectively to create a sense of pending horror. Contrast is excellent with dark revealing shadows and solid black levels, which is spotted with interior lighting effects. The exterior scenes exhibit streets and cars covered in snow along with persistent snowfall. Resolution is excellent as well, with fine detail exhibited in the production sets and especially during closeups of facial features, clothing and object texture. This is a very well-crafted horror thriller that builds with horrific creature killings. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is charged with atmospherics and sound effects that excite. These elements extend throughout the soundfield with aggressive discrete surround envelopment, Every channel is engaged with discrete localization of sound elements. Sound effects are enhanced with intense transients and deep bass than can extend to sub-30 Hz frequencies. Discrete directionalization of sound effects is exciting. The orchestral score is hauntingly errie and fills the soundfield with terrific effect. Dialogue is nicely integrated spatially and intelligible throughout This is a very well-crated horror thriller holosonic® soundtrack that delivers thrills and excitement. (Gary Reber)
