The 2.55:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was animated digitally and sourced from a 2K (not 4K) Digital Intermediate. Picture quality is superb and nicely dimensional. The color palette exhibits nuanced shading of rich and warm hues, often that project vibrancy. The palette exhibits natural color representative of forested land and the kingdom of Rosas, The bright yellow of the wishing star and the "evil green" flows of the king's spear floats throughout the screen. The animated flesh tones are satisfying. HDR contrast is excellent with natural blacks, excellent shadow delineation and depth, and brightly illuminated colors. Resolution is superb, especially evident in costumes, surroundings and backgrounds. This is a beautiful, colorfully warm animated feature with quick character and magic movements that are eye-catching. (Gary Reber)

The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is driven by a very active orchestral/choral score along with singing and dancing, which at times is quite dynamic and rhythmic. The music is quite immersive as it aggressively extends to the side and back surrounds from the wide front soundstage. As a result, the sense of dimensionality is excellent. Atmospherics are supportive with sound effects delivering effective transient response. Foley sound effect are in sync with picture. Bass sounds natural and provides a solid foundation, especially to the music. ADR dialogue is perfectly clear but could be better integrated spatially.

The Immersive Sound element is limited to an extension of the orchestral/choral score and the singing. In this regards, the height layer is nicely aggressive for an effective enhancement of spatial dimensionality. There is also at times some nuanced dialogue and loud dialogue, crowd cheers, some nuanced singing and sound effects.

This is a fine holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that delivers excellent fidelity and dimensionality. (Gary Reber)
