Updated from the original novel by Brian Garfield, "Death Wish" is the reimagining of the 1974 revenge thriller of the same name. Dr. Paul Kersey (Bruce Willis) is a surgeon who only sees the aftermath of his city's violence as it's rushed into his ER––until his wife (Elisabeth Shue) and college-age daughter (Camila Morrone) are viciously attacked in their suburban home. As the police are overloaded with crime, Paul, burning for revenge, hunts for his family's assailants to deliver justice. As the anonymous slaying of criminals grabs the media's attention, the city wonders if this deadly avenger is a guardian angel...or a grim reaper. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic with an aggressive surround presence. The music is strong and fills the soundfield with energy. Deep bass is prominent throughout, with added intensity provided by the .1 LFE channel. SPL is strong during the intense action sequences, with powerful handgun and machine gun rounds and other sound effects. Atmospherics sound completely realistic with a good spread across the soundstage. ADA also is excellent. Dialogue is intelligible throughout with good spatial integration. This is a really intense violent soundtrack with strong soundfield envelopment. (Gary Reber)
